The World Health Organisation states that physical activity is declining at an alarming rate globally with more people living sedentary and inactive lifestyles, leading to obesity, illness and premature death.
In response to this lifestyle crisis, we felt it important to create an ecosystem that solely focuses on encouraging and supporting movement. This world is called Movementum – empowering mental and physical health through movement.
In our Movementum World we challenge the way in which individuals engage in and understand physical activity. We offer alternative methods to get people to engage in movement to slow and reverse this trend and improve holistic health and wellbeing.
Movementum World is all about giving people the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for getting involved in movement for life.
At the very core of Movementum World are the principles of physical literacy. Physical literacy looks at movement from the view of the whole person, which includes your emotional, physical and mental engagement in movement – how you behave, think and take part.
Developing physical literacy is about enjoying moving, being confident to move freely, knowing how to move and why we should move, and being creative in physical activities. It is a unique, personal lifelong journey. You don’t need to compare yourself against others as your progress as a holistic person is what is important.
Movementum World includes everyone – no matter how young or old, how capable or what you want to achieve. It’s all about fulfilling your potential. It’s our goal at Movementum to motivate everyone to choose movement for life. Everyone is welcomed and appreciated as individuals on a unique movement journey. We aim to nurture the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding of physical activity experiences by promoting holistic health and wellbeing.
